Description

Installation Note:

Before Purchasing:

•In order to place your order, you must choose a Knuckle Mounting kit. This new Heim steer system no longer comes with the expensive knuckle mounting bolts. This saves you money towards purchasing one of the other NO DRILL knuckle mounting options. NOTE: If you are mounting your new heim steer above the knuckle (TRO) you will need to drill out your knuckles

•This system is compatible with ’66-’77 Broncos with a factory-style frame, steering gearbox & front axle. It is up to the customer to verify they have these components before purchasing this system. If they do not have all 3 of these, they will need to measure here and possibly buy a custom setup.

•The new Dual sport heim steer (#5641) has recently been modified to accept a steering stabilizer. If you bought a 5641 before February of ’22 it will be listed on your shipping invoice as 5641B and WILL NOT be able to mount a steering stabilizer to it using the mount kit we offer.

All Dual Sport Heim Steer Systems bought after February of ’22 will be listed as a 5641C on the shipping invoice and WILL be able to mount our steering stabilizer kit to it.

If you have a 5641B and would like to mount a steering stabilizer to it, please contact our tech department.

Information

Replace your weak, rock-rashed stock or poorly designed aftermarket steering with one of our TUFF new Dual Sport heim joint steering systems!

We’ve taken our tried and true heim joint steering systems up another level. This system now has the ability to fine tune and adjust your alignment specs without having to take anything apart.

We use a tapered heim stud at the pitman arm that allows more articulation than a standard heim plus it completely eliminates the need to drill out your pitman arm! NOT recommended for use at the knuckle & comes standard now with all our heim steer systems. The tapered heim stud comes with a solid tapered sleeve pre-installed. This sleeve can easily be removed if you are using a pitman arm for a ’66, ’76, or ’77 Bronco.

(For street-driven vehicles, check your local regulations before ordering. Some states will not pass inspection with heim joints in the steering system.) Please note if you have shocks mounted to your C cap and would like to install this system ABOVE the knuckle you will likely need to purchase our weld on c-cap mounts. Steering stabilizer setups will need modification to be reinstalled.

Features

Features:

  • Made in the USA
  • 1.25″ DOM tubing with over a 1/4″ thick wall! 0.2815″ to be exact.
  • Threaded tube (no weld-in insert) for maximum strength and clearance.
  • Drag link attaches to the tie rod in the factory location via a welded-on “saddle” maintaining factory geometry. NO BUMP STEER!
  • Our design greatly reduces applied torque and stress on the passenger side steering knuckle.
  • Included are high-strength, Teflon-lined, 3/4″ rod ends to prevent binding and allow full articulation of the joint.
  • Unless you buy our heim stud kit (5647/5648), it will require you to drill out your stock knuckles to 3/4″ (If you have James Duff steering knuckles, they are already machined to 3/4″). Buy our drill kit here.
  • Pitman arm uses our specialized tapered heim stud (more info below)- NO DRILLING OF THE PITMAN ARM REQUIRED – Drop pitman arm available here, OE replacement pitman arm here.
  • The system can be installed under or over the knuckle in your driveway or garage – If you install over the knuckle you will need to drill out your knuckles and purchase our 564X Knuckle install kit. A 3/4 drill with drilling oil is also available here.
  • Purchase our weld on c-cap mount kit for applications running a front-mounted shock with the tie rod mounted ABOVE the knuckle
  • Complete hardware kit with all-metal unitorque nuts and cotter pins to secure everything in place included.
