Triple D was another great time! The leaves were out in all their glory, giving us beautiful views for our rides and some great opportunities for beautiful Bronco pictures. We were once again able to put together another donation for the Ronald McDonald House of Knoxville of $1000 dollars by matching the proceeds of our silent auction. We are already making plans for the next one and we hope if you weren’t able to make it this year that you will put it on your calendar for next October.

Friday headed East from the shop, taking all back roads out to Douglas Dam – located a few minutes east of Sevierville. This dam was built in the 1940s in record time of just over a year by the TVA to control flooding and generate power, with the added bonus of making a huge recreation area. It boasts almost 2 million visitors a year! The water level of the lake had already been dropped for winter, which gave us a new opportunity to play on the dirt and rocks. We caused quite a stir, gathering attention from many locals and campers who were tickled to talk Broncos.

Saturday’s games and activities, my Chili dog and Nacho Bar lunch at the shop was a hit, as usual, announced the silent auction winners and closed up the shop. We gathered the horses and headed north from the shop towards Oak Ridge, passing Bull Run Coal Steam Plant, along the scenic Melton Hill Lake and onto an area we’ve dubbed the Cade’s Cove of Anderson County due to its beautiful hills and valleys. We were right on time for our pre-scheduled 😉 majestic 10-11pt Elk sighting (recently reintroduced to the area), through Rocky Top and made our way to Norris Dam (We have talked of adding another “D” to DDD since dams seem to be a reoccurring destination for our drives)… and ended the 40-mile ride at the lovely Clinch River Brewery for dinner. A quaint local place with a nice warm private room, great eats and cold brews for a wonderful evening of conversation.

We don’t shoot for a big event, we like hosting a small group of old friends and new ones every year, it allows us time to visit and share our favorite spots in our neck of the woods. It’s always a good time and we invite you to come out next year. Make sure to subscribe to our email list for announcements on when we plan on hosting the 2023 open house, so you can check out some Broncos, enjoy a nice evening dinner, and perhaps make some new friends.
